What is ToodleBit?

ToodleBit is a creative, hands-on approach to teaching the KS2 computing curriculum, providing schools with exciting, stimulating computing lessons. The package consists of four elements; The Kit, Scheme of Work, Training and the Online ToodleBit Classroom.

As part of ToodleBit, schools will receive a set of components that allow pupils to create a number of projects. Each part of the kit has been carefully chosen to provide maximum learning opportunities at a cost effect price. Many of the projects are cross curriula linking with Design Technology and Science.

Scheme of Work

ToodleBit provides a scheme of work which has been divided into 7 units 'that equip pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world' (National Curriulum). Each unit has detailed lesson plans that provide the teacher with easy to follow, high quality lessons and assessment activities.

Training

Part of the ToodleBit package includes staff and pupil training. This is arranged in consultation with the school but could be via staff meeting / demonstration lessons. It is imagined that schools will receive three sessions, one at the start, one in the middle and one at the end of the first year. Telephone and email support will be available throughout.

ToodleBit online classroom provides staff and pupils with support and extension activities enabling children to work at their own pace. Includes code examples and video clips.
